Unites Socialist Party (USP) organised a protest yesterday outside the Chinese embassy in Sri Lanka as part of the international day of action. A statement protesting against the political repression taking place in Hong Kong also handed over to the embassy. USP demanded an immediate end to the repression that taking place in Hong Kong. All democratic rights including the national rights of Hong Kong people to be respected. USPalso demanded an immediate end to the repression of political activists, members of parliament, and trade union activists. Protesters held umbrella pointing to the democratic movement that took place in Hong Kong in 2014. Sri Lankan -also popular for not respecting democratic rights of its people had mobilised significant number police presence. Number police officers stood between embassy and protesters protecting the undemocratic Chinese embassy. USP made it clear to the press who were present at the protest that we will continue to oppose the repression and expose the undemocratic character of the Chines regime to the Sri Lankan masses and to the workers internationally.
